Fulton Leadership Society

Mission Statement

The Fulton Leadership Society (FLS) in the Carroll School of Management aims to provide students with an opportunity to engage in formative experiences to develop their leadership potential, intellectual curiosity, and orientation to serve their community. FLS also adds value to the larger CSOM and Boston College communities through multiple outward facing initiatives.

FLS strives to provide its members with insight into the business world while creating a community that helps students feel comfortable at BC and encourages them to pursue their academic and extracurricular interests across the university. Each of these goals is surrounded and supported by a commitment to fostering relationships within and between current classes and with alumni of Boston College and FLS.

Our First Year

FLS accepted its first freshman class last fall and added five wonderful halfway admits at the start of the Spring semester, rounding out the class at 30 students. Throughout the 2017-2018 school year, members of the Carroll School of Management observed a need for more peer-led programming within CSOM and created FLS as a means to fill that void. We are extremely excited to work alongside new members as well as faculty and administration to develop FLS as a key contributor to the CSOM student community.

2018 Letter from the Dean

Hi all,

I am writing to inform you all of a new organization on campus that may be of interest to many
of you. A group of students in the Carroll School of Management Honors Program, in
conjunction with the Dean’s office, are proud to be accepting applications this fall for the
inaugural class of the Fulton Leadership Society. “FLS” aims to provide a select number of high
achieving students the opportunity to engage in a formative series of educational and
extracurricular experiences.

So, what can you expect from FLS? FLS will present you with a unique opportunity to join a
community of passionate and involved students, while working to leave a lasting impact on the
entirety of the Carroll School. In other words, you’ll be able to develop your own leadership
skills by planning and coordinating programming initiatives with the goal of bringing the Carroll
School community together and providing enhanced resources to its students.

Additionally, FLS emphasizes the importance of relationships between its members, starting
with a freshman/sophomore mentorship program which seeks to help you transition into the
Carroll School and Boston College as a whole. Community service projects throughout the
Boston area are just one example of the additional opportunities you will have to bond with your
FLS classmates and mentors outside of the realm of the Carroll School.

The application for FLS will be released on www.csomfls.com on August 27th and will be due
by midnight on September 7th. Following the application deadline, select applicants will be
invited for a brief, informal interview with the student leadership team.

If you’d like to learn more about FLS, you can visit their website at csomfls.com, Instagram page
@csom.fls, or meet members of the program at the Student Involvement Fair on August 31st as
well as at various information sessions that will be held prior to the application deadline. If you
have any other questions, feel free to reach out to csom.fls@gmail.com.
